Al Muwaqqar District is on of GAM Districts,Its name has been taken from veneration and honor, they used to say (The Venerable Successor) Al Khaleefa Al Mwaqqar ,they mean Yazeed Bin Abdul Malik,it located in the southeast from Amman the capital, far about 30 km from Amman ,it consider as an archeological place, it was an important area due to its ditch and lakes that collects rain water that used for Agriculture purposes.

Its population is 32580 person due to the population estimations for the year 2006
Al Mowaqqar District gather 9 villages due to lands & distance department as following ( Al Mowaqqar,Al Nuqaira,Al Matabba,al Kutaifa,al Thuhaiba alsharqiyya,al Thuhaiba Al Sharqiyya,Rojm Al Shami,Qaryat Salim,Al Qowaira)
Al Muwaqqar district consider as second wild province in Amman,it has semi desert weather .
It gathering many residential complexes and about 162 factory.
