Administratively, Abu Nseir is under the
authority of the University District of the Capital
Governorate, of which it lies north. The Region has a
population estimated at more than 50,000 and it covers
an area of some 50,000 acres.
The Housing Corporation set in motion
the first phase of city of Abu Nseir Housing in the
early 80s of the past century. Soon thereafter, the
following phases of urban development brought more
people to the area. The Region joined Greater Amman
Municipality (GAM) in 1987.
Abu Nseir constitutes an ideal summer
residence in the north of the Capital, bounded on the
east and north by Shafa Badran, to the west by the
Village of Abu Nseir in Balqa Governorate, and to the
south by Al Jbeiha Region.
Abu Nseir was so named after the shrine
of the Prophet’s companion, Musa Ibn Nuseir
