Aqaba at night

Aqaba is 360 km south of Amman. In Aqaba a visitor can enjoy the marvelous beaches and indulge in his/her favorite water related fun activities: swimming, waterskiing, fishing or parasailing and other types of water sports. As an alternative, a visitor can take a stroll down the center of town and through its market; pick up a traditional handicraft, whether made of copper, or a hand-made leather piece; in addition to the colorful and exotically shaped seashells.

Amra Castel

This is a unique piece of Islamic architecture that sits in the middle of the desert. It is famed for its marvelous dome, beautiful decorations and alfresco drawings representing hunting scenes and animals that roamed the area centuries ago, such as lions, tigers, deer and ostriches. On the walls of the Palace there are also drawings showing kings. The ceiling of the dome that covers the hot bath appears as a cross section of the firmament on which skillfully depicted zodiacal constellations are shown. In the Palace courtyard there is a water well from which water used to be drawn by an old waterwheel then poured into earthen passageways under the Palace’s foundation to heat the building in accordance with the same principle as the current system of central heating.

Jarash

The Semitic name for the city is Jarsho, and it was called Jerasa during the Hellenic period. It was also mentioned in some of the Nabatean inscriptions. Jarash is one of the most important cities of the Decapolis- the league of Ten Cities, which was established by Pompey in 63 BC to check the Nabateans’ power in the south. The city thrived under Umayyad rule.

The Dead Sea

The name is most befitting of this Sea, in which no living creature subsists due to its high concentration of salts. However these salts have therapeutic characteristics, and for thousands of years, people sought the Sea for cures. Its salts constitute the raw material for the production of Potash as well as salts used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes, which are sold throughout the world. Dead Sea waters are characterized by the high percentage of natural minerals particularly Calcium, Magnesium and Bromine. Its black mud is rich with salts and minerals.

Wadi Rum

Among the commanding mountains, a visitor can almost touch the purity of nature in the Arabian desert, particularly in the spring, as the red sands of the wadis vie with the surrounding mountains for attention.

Amman

The ancient capital of Jordan in eras long passed as well as the modern capital. It is Rabbat Ammon, which the Ammonites built as their capital, and the same city which flourished during the rain of Greeks and Romans. The Latter called it Philadelphia – the City of Brotherly Love. In the recent past the City, like the city of Rome, extended over seven hills, however it now covers nineteen hills.

Nymphaeum

A structure that lies in the center of town and consists of water fountains that adorn the Roman road which stretches from the Amphitheater. It is dated circa 2nd AD.
