The project, which commenced in 2002 under ‘Amman, Capital for Arab Culture’, is located in the Shmeisani area. The idea behind the project is the creation of regular longitudinal 3-dimensial space along with a series system that will facilitate the movement of pedestrians without restrictions and without the existence of elements that would obstruct the view. The project is thus an integrated design that prominently stands out. It reflects the creative use of indirect lighting and strong and safe material such that doesn’t suggest a particular time frame.
The project includes the following components:
Elevated Courtyard: this is a court square in shape, shaded and lit in a special way. It can be used for cultural activities, such as arts exhibitions.
Green Zone: flowerbeds stretching some 60 meters. It makes the area ideal for talking a walk or relaxing under distinctly-designed canopies.
Theater: circular yard that can be used for staged shows and poetry readings, among other things.
Kiosks Area: contains 4 kiosks exhibiting traditional Jordanian products.
Gallery: low-lying yard showcasing paintings. On one side it features a water wall on the other an exhibition hall.
Circular Yard: seating area. This is one of the most frequently visited places by citizens because it features all elements of recreation, relaxation and beauty, in addition to safety.
There are plans to include statues and murals and to make creative use of water fountains and walls.
