The Theater is located at the foothill
of Jabal Al-Joufeh in downtown Amman. A note written in Greek found
at one of its structures contends that the Amphitheater was built in
recognition of Emperor Hadrian who paid Amman a visit in 130 AD to
inaugurate the road stretching from Basra, through Jerash and Amman,
to the Red Sea .The Amphitheater is divided into three sections each
separated by a space of 2 meters. It can hold as many as 6 thousand
spectators.
